
Paul Stevens
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Stevens brings over 30 years of maritime operations and management experience to MRG, with most of his career spent growing Matson Navigation Company before joining Saltchuk to head the MRG team. At Matson, he served as Executive Vice President with responsibility for the day-to-day management of the carrier including marketing, pricing, and container operations. Mr. Stevens holds a masters degree in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management.

Steve Scalzo
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Scalzo joined MRG in 2005, bringing over 30 years of management and hands-on maritime experience to the company. Previously, Mr. Scalzo led Foss Maritime, serving as President for 6 years after holding positions within the company as Port Captain, General Manager of Marine Operations, and Senior Vice President of Operations. Before joining Foss, he served as a Ship’s Officer for the Chevron Shipping Company. Mr. Scalzo is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point and received an MSC and masters degree in Law and Commerce from Gonzaga University.

Skip Volkle
VP and General Counsel
Mr. Volkle brings over 30 years of maritime experience to MRG. A graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Mr. Volkle served for the Coast Guard at sea and ashore before graduating from the College of William & Mary Law School. As Coast Guard legal counsel, he specialized in marine safety, environmental, maritime law enforcement, and international affairs and served as deputy U.S. Representative to the IMO Legal Committee. Before joining MRG, he worked at Maritrans Inc., serving for 15 years as Director of Legal Affairs.

Kirstin Sandaas
VP and Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Sandaas has worked closely with the financial groups at various Saltchuk companies and most recently held the position of Director of Finance at Sea Coast Towing. Ms. Sandaas served as Finance Manager at Optiva, makers of the Sonicare toothbrush, working as an integral part of the team that helped to sell the company to Philips Electronics. Previously, she worked for various accounting firms, including Arthur Andersen and Ernst and Young as a Tax Manager. Ms. Sandaas has a masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Washington.
